The Reproductive Privacy Act (SB 1301 (Kuehl)) would ensure that women in California have the freedom to exercise their constitutional right to make decisions regarding their own reproductive health, including the right to choose abortion. This bill is exceptionally important right now because the federal protections put in place by Roe v. Wade are at risk due to the fact that two justices have indicated that they may retire soon, leaving the Bush administration to appoint justices that could overturn Roe v. Wade. SB 1301 will keep abortion safe and legal in the state of California. SB 1301 (Kuehl) has already passed out of the senate and will soon be voted on by the entire assembly.
